Our Council
Mukono Town Council is divided into 4 administrative wards including Ggulu,
Nsuube/Kauga, Namumira/Anthony and Ntawo comprising 41 villages.
The council is composed of 28 councilors including the Mayor elected through
adult suffrage using secret ballot. Representation is shared equally between
males and females, with exception of the Mayor who could be either sex depending
on who gets elected for the office. The council serves a four years term of
office.
The Council undertakes its responsibilities through working committees and
they are mainly three:
o The Executive Committee that monitors implementation of Council policies
and resolutions. It is composed of the Chairperson as the Mayor, Deputy Mayor,
Secretary for Education and Information, Secretary for Gender, Secretary for
Health and Secretary for Finance and Planning.
o The Finance and Planning Committee (charged with planning and Budgeting)
oSocial Services Committee (Education, Health, Water and sanitation, Culture,
Agriculture and all Community Services.
Implementation of Council Policies and resolutions is undertaken by a team
of technical staff headed by the Town CLERK as the Chief Executive officer.
The team operates through four main fully pledged departments of;
- Management.
- Treasury
- Public Health and
- Works (Engineering)
