Location: It is located in the central southern region of the
country. The district is bordered by lake victoria in the south, Kampala and Wakiso
districts in the west, Kayunga district in the north and Jinja, Mayuge districts
to the east.

Climate: Rainfall is fairly distributed in the district with
peaks of March-April and October-November. Mean rainfall is 900-1,000mm pa.
Terrain: lies at an altitude of between 1,000 and 1,300m asl.
